Philips Hue Lighting

Philips Hue Lighting

Philips Hue lighting covers a whole house: bulbs in the fittings you already have, lightstrips, downlights, ceiling fixtures and weatherproof outdoor lights. Everything here runs on one app and one Bridge.

Retrofit or replace

Hue bulbs drop into fittings you already have, so a room can go smart in an afternoon. Hue fixtures like Enrave, Infuse, Akari and Garnea replace the fitting itself, and the hardwired ones are electrician work.

Indoors and out

The outdoor range runs on its own low-voltage supply rather than a powerpoint per fixture. You choose a 40 W or 100 W supply, then run extension cables out to the spots, bollards and strips.

Lighting for the TV

Play Gradient lightstrips and the Play HDMI Sync Box are the screen-facing part of the range. They sit under Light strips and Sync boxes in the sections below.

One app across the lot

A bulb, a lightstrip and an outdoor spot all land in the same Hue app, in the same room, in the same scene. That is the reason to buy the range rather than one light at a time.

Start with one room, not the house

Pick the room you use at night and fit it properly: bulbs in the ceiling, a lightstrip behind the TV, one control on the wall. It is a better test of whether you want Hue than a single bulb in a hallway, and the rest of the house can follow at your own pace.

Outdoor runs on its own supply

Hue outdoor lights are low voltage. A 40 W or 100 W supply sits at a powerpoint near the house and extension cables run out to the fixtures, so measure the run before you order.

Bulbs you fit yourself, fixtures you don't

Swapping a bulb, sticking up a lightstrip or plugging in an outdoor spot needs no help. Hardwired ceiling lights and downlights connect to your mains wiring, which is licensed work in Australia under AS/NZS 3000, so book a licensed electrician for those.

Australian range, two-year warranty

Everything here is the AU range, held in local stock, with Signify's two-year warranty behind it.

Fifty on the standard Bridge, which covers most homes comfortably. The Bridge Pro takes 150 and adds Wi-Fi as well as Ethernet, so it suits a large house or one you plan to fit out room by room over time.

Yes, and that is the point of buying into one range. Any Hue light you add appears in the same app, joins the same room and takes part in the same scenes, whether it is a bulb in a lamp, a strip behind the TV or a downlight in the ceiling.

Bulbs, lightstrips, plug-in lamps and the whole low-voltage outdoor range. Hardwired ceiling lights and downlights are the exception: they join your mains wiring, so they need a licensed electrician.

Every Hue light dims from the app, with no wall dimmer involved and no compatibility list to check. Hue bulbs should not go on an old wall dimmer at all: leave it at full and dim from the app, the Tap Dial or the Dimmer Switch.
