Colour guide
Warm, cool, or full colour?
Globes come in three options: a fixed warm white, an adjustable warm-to-cool white, or the full colour spectrum.
-
White
Fixed warm whiteA fixed warm white, the cosy lamp-like glow most globes default to. You can't change the colour from the app.
-
Warm to Cool White
Warm to coolAdjustable white that runs from warm and cosy to crisp and cool, so one globe suits both relaxing and focused rooms.
Selected -
Colour
Full colour and whiteThe full spectrum: millions of colours plus tunable white, for scene lighting, accents and a bit of fun.
Fitting guide
Which fitting do I need?
The cap on the base of the globe decides what fits the socket. The code is usually printed on the old globe or the fitting itself.
-
B22
Bayonet · largeThe push-and-twist bayonet base: line up the two pins, push in and turn a quarter to lock. It's been the classic Australian fitting for decades, so it's still common in older homes.
Selected -
E27
Edison screw · largeThe big screw-in base, 27mm across. It's the default for most pendants, lamps and standard fittings in Australia, so if you're not sure, it's probably this one. The size is printed on the base of the globe you're replacing.
Currently sold out.
Everything you need to know
White Ambiance covers a warm-to-cool white range, roughly 2200K to 4500K, so you can set the room warm for the evening or cooler for reading and cooking. It's the B22 bayonet cap, not the E27 screw. Bluetooth works out of the box; a Hue Bridge adds voice, remote access and automations. For the full colour spectrum, choose the Colour version.
Product features
Tunable white
One white for every part of the day. Shift from a warm 2200 K glow to crisp 6500 K daylight, and every step between. Cool, bright light helps you focus in the morning; a warmer tone winds the room down at night. Set it by hand, or let a schedule move it through the day for you.
- Warm 2200 K to cool 6500 K
- Bright cool light to focus
- Warm light to unwind
- Follows a daily schedule
Made for bayonet sockets
This is the B22 bayonet cap, the push-and-twist fitting in many older Australian homes, not the E27 screw. It drops straight into any B22 socket, so check yours before you order.
Deep, smooth dimming
Take the light from full brightness down to a 1% glow with no flicker, no buzz and no sudden jump to off. It's the difference between a bulb that only really has 'on' and 'off', and one you can set exactly where you want it: soft enough for a nursery at night, or a hallway after dark.
- Smooth from 100% to a 1% glow
- No flicker, no buzz
- Set the exact level you want
- Ideal for bedrooms and nurseries
The Philips Hue system
Hue is a system, not just a smart bulb. Every Hue product, from bulbs and lamps to light strips and fixtures, joins the same Zigbee mesh and shows up in one app. A single bulb bought today slots straight into a whole-home setup later.
Bulbs, lamps, strips & fixtures
All speak Zigbee and mesh with each other, so every light you add extends the network's reach.
One Bridge runs the whole home
Runs up to 50 lights off your router, and connects Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings.
App, voice & switches
One app for rooms, scenes and schedules, plus dimmers, buttons and sensors that work without a phone.
Start with one light Start here
Add your first Hue light, open the Hue app, and control up to 10 lights in one room over Bluetooth. No hub required.
Add the Hue Bridge When you're ready
Run up to 50 lights, control them from anywhere, set schedules and automations, and connect your voice assistant.
Start small, scale up. Everything you buy today keeps working when you add the Bridge, and everything Hue has made since 2012 still joins the same system.

What you can do with it
Dim the lights from the couch for movie night
Drop the lights to a glow from the couch, then bring them back up when it's time to tidy. Fit a Shelly dimmer behind the wall plate, or swap to Philips Hue bulbs and use the app. Control with any ofLights that dim on a schedule each evening
The lights fade down to a low glow after dinner instead of snapping between full and off. Do it with a Shelly dimmer behind the wall plate or Philips Hue bulbs, in their app or Home Assistant. Control with any ofLights that fade up to wake you in the morning
The bedroom lights come up slowly before your alarm, so you wake to a lit room instead of a dark one. Do it with a Shelly dimmer behind the wall plate or Philips Hue bulbs, in their app or Home Assistant. Control with any ofLights that come on as you walk in, softer late at night
A sensor turns the bedroom or hallway light on as you walk in, at full brightness in the evening and a low glow at 2am. Fit Philips Hue bulbs and a motion sensor, or keep your lights and add a Shelly dimmer and presence sensor. Control with any ofCommon questions

No. It pairs over Bluetooth and you control it from the Hue app, up to about ten bulbs in one room. Add the Hue Bridge to run up to 50 bulbs, set automations, control the lights while you're away, and connect to Matter, Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa.
It has a B22 bayonet base, the push-and-twist fitting common in older Australian homes. It drops straight into any B22 socket.
Yes, fully dimmable from the Hue app, a Hue switch or your voice, with no separate wall dimmer. Don't wire it to a traditional dimmer, as that breaks the smart control. Leave the wall switch on and dim from Hue instead.
It changes white temperature, not colour. This is a White ambiance bulb: every shade of white from warm 2200K to cool 6500K daylight, with no coloured light. Choose a White and colour bulb if you want colours.
