Everything you need to know
The Play light bar single pack is the starting point for backlighting one side of a TV or a desk monitor. It runs White and colour ambiance light, from warm 2000K through to cool 6500K plus full colour, controlled over Bluetooth or through the Hue Bridge. The pack includes one bar and a power supply that can run up to three bars, so you can add extension bars later without a second plug.
Product features
Covers a single side
Point the bar at the wall behind a TV or monitor and it washes that surface with light while you watch or work. One bar covers a single side, so it suits a smaller screen or a desk without overdoing it. For a full-size lounge-room TV, the double pack puts a bar on each side.
ChromaSync
Sixteen million colours and every shade of warm-to-cool white, tuned as one. Blend several colours along a single light and shift the whole scene at once, so a room moves from a bright morning white to a warm evening wash without setting each light on its own.
- 16 million colours
- Warm to cool tunable white
- Gradient blends across one light
- Scene-wide control in the Hue app
Follows the picture
The light matches what's on screen in real time, so a green field or a sunset carries onto the wall behind the panel. To make it track the picture you need a Hue Bridge, plus either a Hue Play HDMI Sync Box or the Sync TV app on a supported TV. Without them it holds a fixed colour.
- Colour follows what's on screen
- Needs a Hue Bridge
- Plus a Play HDMI Sync Box or the Sync TV app
One bar, room to grow
The single pack comes with one bar and a power supply, plus mounts to stand it up, lay it flat or fix it behind the TV. That supply runs up to three bars, so you can add two extension bars later without a second plug.
The Philips Hue system
Hue is a system, not just a smart bulb. Every Hue product, from bulbs and lamps to light strips and fixtures, joins the same Zigbee mesh and shows up in one app. A single bulb bought today slots straight into a whole-home setup later.
Bulbs, lamps, strips & fixtures
All speak Zigbee and mesh with each other, so every light you add extends the network's reach.
One Bridge runs the whole home
Runs up to 50 lights off your router, and connects Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings.
App, voice & switches
One app for rooms, scenes and schedules, plus dimmers, buttons and sensors that work without a phone.
Start with one light Start here
Add your first Hue light, open the Hue app, and control up to 10 lights in one room over Bluetooth. No hub required.
Add the Hue Bridge When you're ready
Run up to 50 lights, control them from anywhere, set schedules and automations, and connect your voice assistant.
Start small, scale up. Everything you buy today keeps working when you add the Bridge, and everything Hue has made since 2012 still joins the same system.

Yes. The single pack includes one light bar and a power supply. That supply can run up to three bars, so you can add extension bars to it later.
Not to turn it on and change colours, which work over Bluetooth. You do need the Bridge for scenes, automations and to sync the light to your TV.
No. Screen sync needs the Hue Bridge and a Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, or the Sync TV app on a supported TV. On its own the bar is colour lighting only.
Up to three. The single pack's supply already runs the one bar, leaving room for two extension bars before you need another power supply.
White and colour ambiance: warm to cool white from 2000K to 6500K, plus the full colour range, at 500 lumens.
