Every Shelly Wall Display we stock. They are Android touch panels that go in a wall box in place of a light switch, and each one switches a lighting circuit behind the screen.
These are Android panels, not switches
A Wall Display runs Android, with a colour touchscreen, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth. It shows and controls your Shelly devices and whatever else your setup exposes to it. What it is not is a Zigbee, Thread or Matter controller. Nothing in the range carries those radios.
6.9 inch or 10.1 inch
The X2i has a 6.9-inch screen at 1440 x 720 and measures 87 x 178 mm on the wall. The XL has a 10.1-inch screen at 1280 x 752 and measures 155.8 x 272.5 mm. The X2i fits where a switch plate already is. The XL is a panel you plan a position for.
Both panels switch 5 A
The relay behind the screen is rated to 5 A at 240 V on both, which is a lighting rating rather than a general-purpose one. It is the number to check first, because it is well below what the in-wall relays in the rest of the range will carry.
The X2i's power base comes off
The X2i separates into a screen and a power base. It ships with the one-output base, and that base can be swapped for the two-output version when the position needs to switch two circuits. Without the base the screen is only 11 mm deep.

Measure the wall before you pick the screen
The XL is 155.8 x 272.5 mm and wants a considered position: an entry, a hallway, the end of a kitchen bench. The X2i is 87 x 178 mm and goes where a switch plate is now. Neither is a small object and both are lit, so height and sightline matter more here than they ever would for a switch.
Neither panel reads temperature
This is the one people assume. The XL's specification lists no ambient temperature or humidity sensor, and the X2i does not list one either. Their sensors are light, presence and, on the X2i, an accelerometer. Climate on the screen means a separate sensor somewhere in the room reporting into the system the panel is showing you.
The XL hears and speaks further
Both panels are built to be heard across a room rather than listened to, and both pass audio out to a Bluetooth or Sonos speaker. Unaided they differ. The XL has two 2 W speakers in a sound cavity, a four-microphone line array and a motion sensor that wakes it from about a metre. The X2i has a 0.8 W speaker and a proximity sensor.

No. The panels are Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth, and no Wall Display specification lists Zigbee, Thread, Z-Wave or Matter. It is a control surface for a system you already have rather than the thing that runs it. If you need a Zigbee coordinator, that is a separate piece of hardware.
Not directly. The relay behind the panel is rated to 5 A, which covers lighting and little else. For anything heavier, put the panel in for control and let one of the in-wall or DIN-rail relays do the switching on that circuit. Your electrician can wire both on the same visit.
For control, yes. The panel reaches everything on your network, so one screen can drive lights, blinds and scenes anywhere in the house. Its relay is the exception: that only switches the circuit it is physically wired to, which is why the position it goes in still matters.
Yes, with the two-output power base. The X2i ships with a one-output base that switches a single circuit, and the base is designed to be swapped. We don't range the two-output base yet, so ask us before you plan a position around it.
