Which Gledopto controller do I need?
The Pro+ Mini suits most 12 V and 24 V strips; the Pro Max covers 5 V strips and big runs. How to pick a Gledopto controller by strip type, voltage and current.
Gledopto makes dozens of LED strip controllers, and the model numbers don't explain themselves. The good news: because the current Pro units are 5-in-1, the strip type barely matters. What decides the model is your strip's voltage and how much current it draws. We stock the two Zigbee Pro controllers that between them cover almost every home setup, and this guide is the five-minute version of choosing between them.
Start with your strip
Three things about your strip decide the controller, and they're all on its listing or label.
- Type. Single colour, tunable white (CCT), RGB, RGBW or RGB+CCT. Both controllers here are 5-in-1 units that support all five. You set the type with a button on the controller, so this doesn't narrow the choice.
- Voltage. Most strips are 12 V or 24 V, and either controller handles both. Addressable-style 5 V strips are the exception: only the Pro Max accepts 5 V input.
- Current draw. Multiply the strip's watts per metre by its length, then divide by its voltage. A 5 m run of 14.4 W/m strip at 24 V draws 3 A, well inside either controller. Long runs of dense COB strip are where the numbers climb.

The quick answer
Buy the Pro+ Mini unless a number rules it out. At 42 mm across it disappears into an LED channel, a ceiling void or behind a pelmet, and 10 A covers a serious amount of strip: about 16 m of standard 14.4 W/m strip at 24 V. It joins your Zigbee network as a router, so it strengthens the mesh wherever you tuck it.
The Pro Max earns its extra $9 in three cases: a 5 V strip, a total draw above 10 A, or a single colour channel above 6 A, which mostly means long single-colour COB runs where everything flows through one channel. It's physically larger, so it suits a cupboard, cabinet top or ceiling space rather than a slim channel.
What they work with
Both controllers join any Zigbee network and present your strip as a single light. That means Home Assistant through Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA, a Hue Bridge, SmartThings, or a Zigbee-capable Echo speaker. Our setup guide walks through pairing on each platform.
What about the rest of the range?
Gledopto's wider range includes the older single-purpose models (RGBW-only, CCT-only), the previous Pro generation, and Wi-Fi and 2.4 GHz RF variants. The 5-in-1 Zigbee Pro line replaced the need for most of them: one unit, any strip type, no guessing at order time. If you're matching an existing older controller, the model number on its case tells you which strip type it was built for.

Frequently asked questions
Is Gledopto compatible with Philips Hue?
Yes. Both Pro controllers pair with a Hue Bridge through the app's ordinary light search and then work in rooms, scenes and automations. The one limit is Hue Entertainment areas, which only accept Hue's own lights.
Is Gledopto Zigbee?
The controllers we stock are Zigbee 3.0 devices, and they join the network as routers, so each one extends your mesh. Gledopto also makes Wi-Fi and 2.4 GHz RF versions of some models, so check for "ZigBee" in the model name when buying elsewhere.
What does 5-in-1 mean?
One controller supports all five strip types: single colour, tunable white (CCT), RGB, RGBW and RGB+CCT. You select the mode with the controller's button, so the same unit works whatever strip you wire to it.
What size power supply do I need?
Work out the strip's draw (watts per metre times length), then add about 20% headroom. The supply's voltage must match the strip exactly: 12 V strip, 12 V supply. The controller draws from the same supply and doesn't need its own.
