Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor
A weatherproof motion sensor for porches, paths and driveways that switches on your Hue lights, indoors or out, as you approach.
Everything you need to know
The outdoor Hue motion sensor triggers your Hue lights when someone approaches, so a path or driveway lights up before you reach it. Rated IP54, it handles dust and splashing water and works across a wide temperature range. It runs on two AA batteries, connects over Zigbee, and needs a Hue Bridge. A built-in daylight sensor keeps it from firing in daylight.
Product features
Lights the way to the door
The sensor picks up movement across a driveway, front path or back deck and switches on your Hue lights as you approach. It can trigger indoor lights too, so the entry hall is lit before you reach the door.
Rated IP54 for outside
The IP54 rating protects it against dust and splashing water, and it runs from -20°C to 45°C, so it copes with a cold morning or a hot afternoon. Mount it under an eave, since IP54 covers rain and splashes rather than direct water.
Only when it's needed
A daylight sensor stops it triggering when there is already enough light, and you can dial the sensitivity down if swaying branches set it off. It runs on two AA batteries with no wiring, and needs a Hue Bridge.
The Philips Hue system
Hue is a system, not just a smart bulb. Every Hue product, from bulbs and lamps to light strips and fixtures, joins the same Zigbee mesh and shows up in one app. A single bulb bought today slots straight into a whole-home setup later.
Bulbs, lamps, strips & fixtures
All speak Zigbee and mesh with each other, so every light you add extends the network's reach.
One Bridge runs the whole home
Runs up to 50 lights off your router, and connects Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings.
App, voice & switches
One app for rooms, scenes and schedules, plus dimmers, buttons and sensors that work without a phone.
Start with one light Start here
Add your first Hue light, open the Hue app, and control up to 10 lights in one room over Bluetooth. No hub required.
Add the Hue Bridge When you're ready
Run up to 50 lights, control them from anywhere, set schedules and automations, and connect your voice assistant.
Start small, scale up. Everything you buy today keeps working when you add the Bridge, and everything Hue has made since 2012 still joins the same system.

Yes. It connects to your Hue lights through the Hue Bridge and is set up in the Hue app. You also need at least one Hue light for it to control.
It's rated IP54, so it's protected against dust and splashing water and runs from -20°C to 45°C. That covers rain and splashes, but mount it somewhere sheltered rather than in the path of direct water.
Yes. It can switch on both outdoor and indoor Hue lights, so you can light the entry hall as someone walks up to the door.
You can lower the motion sensitivity if branches or passing traffic set it off too often. The built-in daylight sensor also stops it firing when there's already enough light.
Two AA batteries, included in the box. There's no wiring, so you can place it wherever it has a clear view.
