Everything you need to know

This MR16 adds 16 million colours to warm-to-cool white (2000K to 6500K) at 320 lumens, for colour scenes or everyday white in a 12 V downlight. It's a low-voltage bi-pin spotlight, so it swaps in for 12 V halogen spots and needs a compatible transformer. For mains-voltage twist-lock downlights, choose the GU10 Colour instead. Bluetooth runs it out of the box; a Hue Bridge adds voice, scenes and automations.

Product features

ChromaSync

Sixteen million colours and every shade of warm-to-cool white, tuned as one. Blend several colours along a single light and shift the whole scene at once, so a room moves from a bright morning white to a warm evening wash without setting each light on its own.

  • 16 million colours
  • Warm to cool tunable white
  • Gradient blends across one light
  • Scene-wide control in the Hue app

Needs a 12 V transformer

This is a bi-pin MR16 on a GU5.3 base running at 12 V, so it swaps in for 12 V halogen spots and needs a compatible transformer, not a mains GU10 socket. Older magnetic transformers may need replacing with an LED driver. If your downlights are mains-voltage twist-lock, choose the GU10 instead.

Deep, smooth dimming

Take the light from full brightness down to a 1% glow with no flicker, no buzz and no sudden jump to off. It's the difference between a bulb that only really has 'on' and 'off', and one you can set exactly where you want it: soft enough for a nursery at night, or a hallway after dark.

  • Smooth from 100% to a 1% glow
  • No flicker, no buzz
  • Set the exact level you want
  • Ideal for bedrooms and nurseries

Bluetooth now, Bridge later

Pair over Bluetooth and run it from the Hue app out of the box, up to about ten lights in a room. Add the Hue Bridge, sold separately, for automations, control while you're away, and Matter, Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

The Philips Hue system

Philips Hue logo

Hue is a system, not just a smart bulb. Every Hue product, from bulbs and lamps to light strips and fixtures, joins the same Zigbee mesh and shows up in one app. A single bulb bought today slots straight into a whole-home setup later.

One app for rooms, scenes and schedules, plus dimmers, buttons and sensors that work without a phone.

Getting started
1
Start with one light Start here

Add your first Hue light, open the Hue app, and control up to 10 lights in one room over Bluetooth. No hub required.

2
Add the Hue Bridge When you're ready

Run up to 50 lights, control them from anywhere, set schedules and automations, and connect your voice assistant.

Start small, scale up. Everything you buy today keeps working when you add the Bridge, and everything Hue has made since 2012 still joins the same system.
