G125 - E27 550 Smart Bulb
The biggest, boldest vintage filament bulb Hue makes: a large G125 globe with an elegant coiled filament, warm-to-cool white and app control, in an E27 fitting. Made to be shown off in open pendants.
Fitting guide
Which fitting do I need?
The cap on the base of the globe decides what fits the socket. The code is usually printed on the old globe or the fitting itself.
-
E27
Edison screw · largeThe big screw-in base, 27mm across. It's the default for most pendants, lamps and standard fittings in Australia, so if you're not sure, it's probably this one. The size is printed on the base of the globe you're replacing.
Selected -
B22
Bayonet · largeThe push-and-twist bayonet base: line up the two pins, push in and turn a quarter to lock. It's been the classic Australian fitting for decades, so it's still common in older homes.
Everything you need to know
The G125 is a large decorative globe with a visible coiled filament, so it's meant to be on display in bare pendants and open fittings rather than behind a shade. It's White Ambiance, tuning from warm to cooler white (about 2200K to 4500K) at a soft 550 lumens; the amber-tinted filament keeps the look warm even at the cooler end. E27 screw base. Bluetooth works out of the box; a Hue Bridge adds voice and automations. White only, no colour. For the bayonet fitting, choose the B22 version.
Product features
Tunable white
One white for every part of the day. Shift from a warm 2200 K glow to crisp 6500 K daylight, and every step between. Cool, bright light helps you focus in the morning; a warmer tone winds the room down at night. Set it by hand, or let a schedule move it through the day for you.
A big filament globe on show
The G125 is one of the largest globes Hue makes, with a visible coiled filament behind clear glass. It's made to be seen in open pendants and bare fittings, rather than tucked behind a shade. The amber-tinted filament keeps the look warm even at the cooler end of the range.
Made for screw sockets
This is the E27 Edison screw cap, the most common fitting in Australian homes, not the B22 bayonet. It threads straight into any E27 socket, so check yours before you order.
Deep, smooth dimming
Take the light from full brightness down to a 1% glow with no flicker, no buzz and no sudden jump to off. It's the difference between a bulb that only really has 'on' and 'off', and one you can set exactly where you want it: soft enough for a nursery at night, or a hallway after dark.
The Philips Hue system
Hue is a system, not just a smart bulb. Every Hue product, from bulbs and lamps to light strips and fixtures, joins the same Zigbee mesh and shows up in one app. A single bulb bought today slots straight into a whole-home setup later.
Bulbs, lamps, strips & fixtures
All speak Zigbee and mesh with each other, so every light you add extends the network's reach.
One Bridge runs the whole home
Runs up to 50 lights off your router, and connects Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings.
App, voice & switches
One app for rooms, scenes and schedules, plus dimmers, buttons and sensors that work without a phone.
Start with one light Start here
Add your first Hue light, open the Hue app, and control up to 10 lights in one room over Bluetooth. No hub required.
Add the Hue Bridge When you're ready
Run up to 50 lights, control them from anywhere, set schedules and automations, and connect your voice assistant.
Start small, scale up. Everything you buy today keeps working when you add the Bridge, and everything Hue has made since 2012 still joins the same system.

No. It pairs over Bluetooth and you control it from the Hue app, up to about ten bulbs in one room. Add the Hue Bridge to run up to 50 bulbs, set automations, control the lights while you're away, and connect to Matter, Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa.
It has a standard E27 Edison screw base, the most common screw fitting in Australia. This is a large G125 globe, so it suits open pendants where the bulb is on show.
Yes, fully dimmable from the Hue app, a Hue switch or your voice, with no separate wall dimmer. Don't wire it to a traditional dimmer, as that breaks the smart control. Leave the wall switch on and dim from Hue instead.
It changes white temperature, not colour. This is a White ambiance filament globe: a range of white from warm, candle-like light to a cooler white, with the vintage coiled filament on show. It doesn't produce coloured light.
