How to reset a Gledopto controller

Gledopto doesn't publish its manuals in one place, and the reset procedure differs by generation, so it's harder to look up than it should be. There are two families and two procedures. Pro models, the ones with a P at the end of the model number, carry a physical Reset button. The older GL-C-007 and GL-C-008 have no button and reset through a timed power cycle. This guide covers both, plus how to get the controller pairing with your Zigbee network again afterwards.

Check the label first

The model number printed on the case decides which procedure you use, not what your hub reports. A multi-mode controller like the GL-C-201P announces itself as a different model for each working mode (GL-C-008P in RGB+CCT, GL-C-009P as a dimmer, and so on), so the software name can mislead you. If the number on the case ends in P and there's a Reset button, use the button method. If it's a GL-C-007 or GL-C-008 with no button, use the power cycle.

Reset a Pro controller

On the GL-C-001P the button does two jobs: pressing it 4 times leaves the Zigbee network but keeps settings, while holding it for more than 5 seconds is the full factory reset. A few early Pro manuals quote a 2 second hold instead of 5, so if the long hold does nothing, try the shorter one.

The Hue dimmer shortcut

A widely reported trick: a Hue Dimmer Switch can reset a Gledopto controller directly. Hold the dimmer within 10 cm of the controller and press the on and off buttons together (top and bottom on the current model) for about 10 seconds, until the strip stops flashing. This is a Touchlink reset, and it's handy when the Reset button is awkward to reach.

Pair it again

A reset controller advertises itself as soon as it powers up, so the order matters: start the search on your hub first, then reset or power cycle the controller. The join window is short, so don't leave a long gap between the two. If the hub finds nothing, reset again and rerun the search.

• Zigbee2MQTT: enable Permit join, then reset the controller. If you run Home Assistant through a Zigbee dongle, this is the path.
• ZHA: go to Settings, then Devices and services, then Add device, and reset while it scans.
• Hue app: go to Settings, then Lights, then Add light, and run a search. Skip the serial number field: Gledopto controllers don't carry a Hue-format serial, so a serial search never finds them. More on what a Hue Bridge does and doesn't do with third-party lights in our bridge guide.
• SmartThings: open Add device and choose Scan nearby.

The strip blinks when the controller joins a network. That join blink is distinct from the reset confirmation, so a reset flash alone doesn't mean it has paired.

Still won't pair?

• Still joined to its old hub. A controller that's already on a Zigbee network doesn't advertise. Remove it from the old hub while it's powered, or run the full factory reset. A plain power cycle isn't enough.
• The window closed. Reset again and keep the hub's search running while you do.
• Too far from the hub. Pair the controller close to your hub or coordinator first, then move it to its final spot. Zigbee routes re-form on their own.
• Wi-Fi interference. Zigbee and Wi-Fi share the 2.4 GHz band. If pairing is flaky across several devices, move your coordinator away from the router (a USB extension cable helps) or shift your Zigbee network to channel 11, 15, 20 or 25.
• No strip connected. The radio joins happily without a strip attached, but you lose every blink confirmation, so a working reset looks like a dead one.
• A stale entry on the hub. Hue Bridges in particular can hold a cached record of the old pairing. Delete the old light from the app, power the bridge off for a few minutes, then search again.
