Everything Shelly announced at IFA 2026

Shelly showed ten products at IFA Berlin, but the two things worth knowing are free firmware updates. The Wall Display becomes a Matter controller, and Gen4 gets a full IP stack over Thread.

Shelly Camera

Shelly Camera

€39.90, no Australian price

Shelly Camera

€39.90, no Australian price On sale in Europe now
Shelly Camera, product render

Shelly's first camera. Full HD over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with motion alerts and a preview of what triggered them in the Shelly app. Cloud AI object recognition reports whether it saw a person, a vehicle or a pet rather than just reporting movement, and you can draw detection zones to watch specific areas.

Recording to a microSD card is free, and the card is not included. Shelly's cloud runs inside the EU and encrypts footage at rest, but it needs a Shelly Premium subscription at €3.99 a month for one camera, with three months included, and the AI object recognition sits behind the same subscription. Exclusion zones and a password-protected privacy mode are built in. At €39.90 the camera itself is cheap enough to buy in pairs.

Shelly Wall Display X1i

€191.90, no Australian price On sale in Europe since July 2026
Shelly Wall Display X1i, product render

A 4 inch touchscreen with a quad-core processor, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, proximity and gesture sensors, a replaceable 100 to 240 V power base, USB-C and an integrated relay. It handles lighting, heating and cooling, scenes and connected devices, and reports live consumption from Shelly PM devices.

Native Home Assistant integration is the reason to look at it. You build the dashboard in Home Assistant and run it on the wall, rather than accepting the screen layout the vendor shipped.

Shelly BLU TRV

Not announced Coming soon, no date given
Shelly BLU TRV radiator thermostat, product render

The radiator thermostat gets a new motor for quieter valve movement and battery life of up to two years, but the firmware is the real change. A compatible Shelly Wi-Fi device from the Plus generation onwards, connected to Shelly Cloud, can now act as the gateway.

That takes a dedicated box off the shopping list, which Shelly says was a common request. The Gateway Gen3 still works for cloud and local control if you already own one. The device supports both Bluetooth and Zigbee.

Shelly BLU Motion ZB

€20.90, no Australian price On sale in Europe since July 2026
Shelly BLU Motion ZB sensor, product render

A motion sensor carrying both Bluetooth and Zigbee, so you pick the protocol rather than the sensor picking it for you.

It is also the shape of the whole BLU range from here. Shelly says the combined Bluetooth and Zigbee models will replace the Bluetooth-only BLU series over time, in response to demand for Zigbee.

Shelly 1L Gen4

€33.90, no Australian price On sale in Europe now
Shelly 1L Gen4 relay, product render

A single-channel relay that switches lighting without a neutral wire at the switch, which is the case in plenty of older installs. The two-channel 2L Gen4 does the same job for two circuits.

Both sit on the Gen4 platform, so they carry Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee and Matter. Shelly has not yet published which Gen4 models ThreadLink will run on.

Our take

Worth waiting for

Firmware 2.8.0 turns the Shelly Wall Display into a Matter controller and a Matter device at the same time. A screen you already own can commission third-party lights, blinds, thermostats, plugs and sensors and show them next to your Shelly gear, and it hands its own entities to whatever ecosystem you run. It is free, and it covers the XL, X2i, X1i, U1 and D1. The first-generation Wall Display and the X2 can use devices shared from a newer panel but cannot commission their own. Local Matter control, scenes and scripting are free; remote control, history and cloud scenes for Matter devices need Shelly Premium and follow later in September. Update, 14 October 2026: they did not arrive in September. As of firmware 2.8.3 on 12 October, Shelly's changelog still lists app and cloud access to Matter devices as Premium only, with no date. Thread-based Matter devices still need a Thread Border Router.

ThreadLink is the other one. It is an opt-in firmware for Gen4 devices that runs the whole TCP/IP stack over the Thread mesh rather than a single application protocol, so Matter, Shelly Cloud and direct device-to-device calls over Shelly's own RPC API all run on one low-power radio. A Gen4 device can reach the cloud with no Wi-Fi credentials on it at all, through a Thread Border Router. Shelly says roughly three months, free, and you choose per device whether it runs the standard Wi-Fi firmware or ThreadLink.

The hardware is a mixed bag by comparison, and only the Camera is new to the show: the Wall Display X1i and the BLU Motion ZB went on sale in July, LOQED Pure in June. The Camera is the first Shelly has built, and at €39.90, recording to a microSD card with no subscription, it is priced to be bought in pairs. The Wall Display X1i earns its place on native Home Assistant integration. The BLU TRV update matters more than its spec line suggests, because the new gateway function removes a box from the shopping list.

None of it has an Australian price. Shelly has no Australian store of its own and sells here through distribution, so what you can actually buy depends on what local stockists bring in, and the nine devices Shelly now sells are on sale in Europe. We carry part of the BLU range already, listed on our Shelly brand page, and we will say plainly on the product pages as more of this lands.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need new hardware for the Matter update?

No. Firmware 2.8.0 is free and lands on Wall Displays you already own: the XL, X2i, X1i, U1 and D1. First-generation Wall Display and Wall Display X2 models can control Matter devices shared from a newer compatible display, so they get part of the benefit without new hardware.

What is ThreadLink, and is it the same as Matter?

No. Matter is the device standard and Thread is a radio. ThreadLink is Shelly firmware that runs a full TCP/IP stack over the Thread mesh, so one radio carries Matter, Shelly Cloud and direct device-to-device control at once. It is a separate opt-in update for Gen4 devices, due in about three months, and it needs a Thread Border Router on your network.

Can I buy any of this in Australia?

Shelly has no Australian store of its own, so there is no Australian recommended price for anything in this announcement. The Camera, Wall Display X1i, LOQED Pure, BLU Motion ZB, BLU Door Window Mini ZB, BLU Door Window Outdoor ZB, 1L Gen4, 2L Gen4 and i4 Gen4 are on sale in Europe now. Only the new BLU TRV is still listed as coming soon, with no date. What reaches Australia depends on local stockists.

What happens to the Bluetooth-only BLU sensors?

Shelly is replacing them over time with BLU ZB models that carry both Bluetooth and Zigbee, so you choose which protocol to use. Existing Bluetooth-only devices keep working.
